Janet Heinrich
Janet Heinrich, DrPH, RN, co-principal investigator, is Research Professor of Health Policy and Management. She joined the Department in October 2016. For the three years prior, Dr. Heinrich was senior advisor at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation Center (CMMI), working with the State Innovations Group on providing technical assistance on workforce issues, rural health and telehealth, and population health issues. She also was responsible for several State Innovation Models states, including Minnesota and California. She also worked with the Population Health team on the development of the Accountable Health Communities initiative. As Associate Administrator, Bureau of Health Professions, Health Resources and Services Administration, she implemented health workforce initiatives that are part of the Affordable Care Act, including Teaching Health Centers, expanding the primary care workforce, and establishing the National Center for Health Workforce Analysis. Dr. Heinrich received her BSN from the University of Michigan, her MPH from Johns Hopkins University and a DrPH from Yale University.
